Michy Batshuayi scores Chelsea winner with literally the last kick of the game

The Premier League champions grabbed the latest winner possible at Atletico Madrid's new Stadium

It doesn’t get more last-gasp than that.

Michy Batshuayi scored a goal with the very last kick of the game to give Chelsea an impressive win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Diego Simeone’s men suffered their first loss at their new stadium as neat build-up from Tiemoue Bakayoko and Marcos Alonso pried open a chance for Chelsea’s Belgian forward.

Batshuayi made no mistake with his close-range side-foot finish to send the away fans into a frenzy in the Spanish capital.

The Blues had gone one-nil down when Antoine Griezmann slammed home a penalty conceded by David Luiz.

But Chelsea stuck to their game plan and scored twice in the second half to make it two wins from an many games on their return to Europe’s top club competition.

Alavro Morata proved once again that he is one of the best aerial finishers in the world when he delicately headed Eden Hazard’s cross into the far post after an hour.

The former Real Madrid man was given a typically hostile reception from the home fans when he was substituted off.

Cesc Fabregas missed a wonderful chance to take the lead when he got his feet in a muddle but his off-target effort did not prove to be costly.

Antonio Conte was his usual passionate self on the sideline and his unique brand of motivation seemed to spur his side on to their deserved late winner.

Diego Costa watched on from the crowd.

The bullish forward is not permitted to play for Atletico until January when he can be officially registered following the end of the club’s transfer ban.

Cameras caught Costa’s pained expression in the aftermath of Batshuayi’s winner.
