Dani Alves explains why he took the ball from Edinson Cavani before free-kick

Dani Alves took the ball off Edinson Cavani only for Neymar to then steal it off his PSG team-mate

All is going well in Paris at the moment.

PSG sit at the top of Ligue 1 having won all their games, scoring 21 goal in the process and conceding just three times.

But there was a slightly awkward moment during Sunday’s game against Lyon when Dani Alves took the ball off Edinson Cavani only to give it to Neymar.

On the face of it you’d be forgiven for thinking Alves was sticking up for his Brazilian team-mate.

However the reality was quite different, as Alves told Brazilian TV show SporTV.

Alves said: “I took the ball because I wanted the free-kick but then Neymar took it away.”

Neymar had already tried to grab the ball off Cavani before the Uruguayan’s missed penalty in the second-half.

But, despite missing the free-kick he’d worked so hard to steal win it all worked out in the end, thanks to two Lyon own-goals.

So the moral of the story is, if you want something doing just take it from Alves.
