Andrea Conti’s start to life at AC Milan has hit a brick wall, after being ruled out for SIX MONTHS with a damaged anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The full-back – one of Milan’s many signings over the summer (honestly, we lost count) – was close to returning from an ankle injury sustained during the international break, only to suffer a serious knee injury in training on Friday.
The 23-year-old had a pretty decent start to his Milan career, playing in their two opening Serie A games before making his Italy debut against Israel.
He made the move to San Siro over the summer off the back of a brilliant campaign with Atalanta, scoring eight goals and notching five assists as La Dea finished a brilliant fourth-place in Serie A.
As news broke of his lengthy spell on the sidelines, Milan’s bitter cross-city rivals Inter were one of the first to wish Conti a speedy recovery with this classy message on Twitter.
Isn’t that great to see?
Conti will definitely miss the first Milan derby of the season on October 15, but will hopefully be fit for the second clash in March.
Milan’s great start to the season hit a snag last weekend, when they lost 4-1 to Lazio.
They face Udinese at the weekend, as they gear up to face the likes of Roma, Inter and Juventus in October.
Italian football still gets our pulses racing.
Alvaro Morata or Alexandre Lacazette? Why not both in this weekend’s big game?
