Real Madrid fans have a brand new hero in the shape of Marco Asensio.
The youngster is tipped to be HUGE, having wowed supporters and experts alike with some incredible performances and goals since breaking out last season.
The 21-year-old hit headlines at the beginning of last season when he scored a 27-yard effort in Los Blancos’ 3–2 win against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup.
From there, he’s come on leaps and bounds, scoring a corker in his La Liga debut against Real Sociedad and even scoring in Madrid’s Champions League final against Juventus.
And he’s only getting better, having scored four goals in six matches for the club so far this season.
Manager Zinedine Zidane has been unsurprisingly impressed, even going as far as comparing him to Barcelona maestro Lionel Messi.
Speaking to COPE, Asensio said: “Zidane told me that since Messi, he had never seen a left foot like mine,”
“I was a little impressed, because Messi is a piece of a footballer.”
Yeah, that’s high praise indeed.
Despite Asensio’s fine start to the season, Real have clearly missed the absent Cristiano Ronaldo.
Los Blancos have collected just five points from their opening three games in La Liga, drawing their opening two.
