The margins between Silva and gold can be so slim (yes, we did steal that off Twitter but it was too good not to).
Adrien Silva’s £22million deadline day move from Sporting CP to Leicester is off thanks to the finest of margins.
FIFA have rejected Silva’s registration after Leicester missed the deadline by 14 seconds, according to BBC World Service broadcaster Steve Crossman.
Leicester had to request a two-hour extension to try and get Silva’s deal over the line.
But they’ll now be forced to appeal and are reportedly working on correcting the registration papers with Sporting in order to get the deal sanctioned by FIFA.
A Leicester club spokesman, via Sky Sports, said: “We are working with Adrien and Sporting Clube de Portugal to overcome some issues relating to the player’s registration and exploring all options to find a resolution.”
Silva was supposed to arrive as Danny Drinkwater’s replacement after Leicester sold the England international to Chelsea.
As luck would have it, guess who Leicester’s next game is against? Yep, Chelsea and their Leicester rejects Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante.
