You thought the transfer window deadline day madness was over? You thought wrong.
While the English window might have SLAMMED shut last night, the Spanish window doesn’t SLAM shut until midnight.
This could be something of a problem for Arsenal, with Barcelona readying a €60million bid for Mesut Ozil, according to Spanish publication COPE.
The report claims Barcelona enquired about Ozil as an alternative to Philippe Coutinho, who looks set to stay at Liverpool for another season.
Rather than dismiss the enquiry out of hand Arsenal quoted a price of €60mil, well within Barcelona’s budget.
Like wantaway Alexis Sanchez, Ozil’s contract is also expiring next summer leaving him free to talk to clubs in January.
Arsenal therefore face the proposition of losing both Ozil and Sanchez on free transfers come next summer, which would be disastrous for the club.
So do they cash in now, with no opportunity to replace Ozil, or wait until January?
Either way, we’re sure it will make for an entertaining watch on Arsenal Fan TV.
