Raging Jack Wilshere was sent off for Arsenal Under-23s after flooring a Man City player and sparking a brawl on the pitch.

The Gunners midfielder reacted furiously to a late tackle by Matt Smith and failed to keep his composure as more players piled in.

Wilshere, whose future at the Emirates remains in doubt, was shown a straight red card for the offence on Matt Smith.

The England international saw red in the 63rd minute after Smith’s late barge.

Tyreke Wilson flew into Wilshere and appeared to aim a kick at the England star while also going in with his head.

Some seven players were then involved in a tussle in the centre circle before Wilshere was shown the straight red.

Wilshere will not be banned for any senior matches as a result.

But his reaction does raise questions over his temperament and state of mind with the Premier League season still in its early stages.

City youngster Tyreke Wilson certainly didn’t cover himself in glory either and was also shown red.
