WATCH: Liverpool teenager scores sensational free-kick on Champions League debut

What a night to score your first goal for your boyhood club

Liverpool fans are enjoying their first taste of Champions League football for quite a while this evening, and boy does it taste good.

The Reds are up against Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the first-leg of the competition’s qualifier, with manager Jurgen Klopp facing his friend and rival Julian Nagelsmann.

We’ve heard a lot about Nagelsmann, although most of it is related to how young he is.

Apparently, at just 30-years-old, he’s younger than Liverpool duo James Miner AND Ragnar Klavan.

That’s a nice fun fact, isn’t it?

Owen Hargreaves gave us that one.

Speaking of youth, the youngest guy on the pitch this evening is Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 18-year-old has been filling in at right-back for the injured Nathaniel Clyne, and played several times during pre-season.

He did pretty alright too.

So as the only guy making his Champions League debut in the Red’s first-team XI, you could perhaps forgive him for being a little nervous, right?

No chance.

Despite Hoffenheim edging most of the play in the first-half, it was the youngster who everyone’s talking about at half-time, after this sensational free-kick to give Liverpool the lead.

Check out this beauty:

That’s one he’ll remember for the rest of his life.

Brilliant stuff.

It terms of chances, Hoffenheim were denied early on from the penalty spot, after Simon Mignolet saved Andrej Kramaric’s weak kick.

Not long after, new boy Mohamed Salah raced through on goal, only to strike just wide of the post.

Game on.
