Man United turned down opportunity to sign Isco in 2013 for the most ridiculous reason in football history

The Real Madrid and Spain midfielder has emerged as one of the world's best playmakers in the last year

Man United, you idiots.

Jose Mourinho’s side succumbed to the brilliance of Real Madrid in the European Super Cup in Skopje on Tuesday night partly because of Isco’s accomplished performance.

However, the Spain international could well have been playing FOR United had the club not turned down the chance to sign him for  the most ridiculous reason in football history.

ESPN have revealed a United scout report from 2013 on the then 21-year-old read: “He’s good, but not quite quick enough and his head is too big for his body.”

Sorry, what?

Bear in mind that this was only four years ago.

And at the time Isco was one of La Liga’s most promising young talents while playing for Malaga and even made his international debut that year.

The supposed enormity of his head didn’t seem to stop him starring for Spain’s triumphant Under-21s side at that summer’s European Championship either.

Soon after that tournament concluded he signed for Real Madrid — who clearly didn’t think the size of head had any bearing on his ability to play football.

Also, is his head even that big?

This came just a year after it was claimed in Sir Alex Ferguson’s book that United rejected the chance to sign Jordan Henderson because they thought the way he ran “might cause him problems later in life.”

Isco late-season form ensured Real Madrid maintained their lead at the top of La Liga to secure their first league title since 2011/12.

Zinedine Zidane then selected him ahead of Gareth Bale for the Champions League final against Juventus — a wise call.

The scout that deemed Isco’s head ‘too big’ is probably burying his in the sand right now.
