Silva was born in Gran Canaria and with Las Palmas finishing mid-table in La Liga in the two seasons since they were promoted, it seems the two are a perfect fit.

The veteran of 113 international caps said 18 months ago: “If I go back to Spain, it will be to play for Las Palmas.”

Several La Liga clubs have made approaches for Silva in the last two seasons but his loyalty to Man City is unwavering.

Silva believes he can be a key player for Pep Guardiola’s team up until 2019 when he turns 33.

The former Valencia midfielder signed for City in 2010 and has played over 300 games for the club.

One of the Premier League’s most stylish playmakers of the modern era, Silva was instrumental in City’s two title wins as well as their recent pair of League Cups and FA Cup crown.

Last year he was named Man City’s Player of the Season and is set to feature in Guardiola’s first-team plans despite the arrival of Bernardo Silva from Monaco and the emergence of talented youngsters Phil Foden, Brahim Diaz and Jadon Sancho.
