Tottenham fans will be hoping Kieran Trippier is fit for their season opener against Newcastle next weekend, after limping off against Juventus in their final pre-season friendly of the summer.
The right-back is seen as an important member of the first-team for the upcoming campaign, coming in at right-back as a ready-made replacement for Kyle Walker, who left to join Manchester City last month.
And fans were initially delighted to see him set up Harry Kane for Spurs’ opener against the Italian giants.
NOT PICKED YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM YET? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Bombing down the right flank, Tripper received a through ball from Moussa Sissoko before delivering a lovely weighted cross straight to the on-rushing head of Kane.
Majestic stuff.
But the defender clashed with Juve’s Alex Sandro moments later, instantly signalling for a substitution while holding his knee.
Youngster Kyle Walker…-Peters (we’re not making this up) came on in his place.
Spurs finished the first-half 1-0 up and were clearly the better side, showing us all they can do the business at Wembley.
Even Sissoko played alright.
Crikey, maybe this is their year?
