The ink is barely dry on Neymar’s PSG signature but Barcelona are already spending their £196million windfall.
Philippe Coutinho? Ousmane Dembele? Paulo Dybala? Nope. Barcelona are building from the back.
Real Sociedad centre-back Inigo Martinez is set to join Barcelona on a five-year deal after the club activated his €32million release clause.
The 26-year-old came through Sociedad’s youth academy, making his debut in August 2011.
He was a part of Spain Under-21s’ European Championship win two years later, alongside David De Gea, Thiago, Dani Carvajal, Isco and Alvaro Morata.
Martinez has since played for Spain on four occasions, including a 2-2 draw with England in November.
The arrival of a left sided centre-back will leave Barcelona plenty of options in the heart of defence.
Javier Mascherano, Marlon Santos and Samuel Umtiti will all be competing to partner Gerard Pique at the back.
But Barcelona still have €190mil to play with, which should be enough to make Liverpool fans very worried.
