Samir Nasri’s Manchester City nightmare could be over soon.
City boss Pep Guardiola has made it clear he wants the midfielder to leave the club this summer, after becoming increasing outcast among his team-mates at the club.
And he could be set for a pleasing reunion with another City reject in the form of Mario Balotelli at Ligue 1 side Nice.
According to the Daily Mail, Nasri is being offered a move back to his homeland by the French club, with City hoping to recoup around £10million for the former Arsenal star, who has two years left on his contract.
Guardiola allowed Nasri to join the club’s US tour, where he put in some eye-catching performances.
But it’s not been enough to convince the gaffer he’s fit to stay.
If the move does go ahead, then the 30-year-old might be hoping to reignite his career at the club in the same way Balotelli has.
The Italian striker scored 15 goals last season to help Les Aiglons mount a shock title challenge, eventually finishing in the Champions League qualification places behind Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain.
As a result, manager Lucien Favre is eager to improve his squad to cope with the demands of European football.
But last year’s stellar performances have seen several Nice stars catch the eye of bigger clubs.
Jean Michael Seri is a target for Arsenal, who are struggling to convince Monaco to part with top target Thomas Lemar.
The Ivorian midfielder, 25, played a key role for Nice and would be missed but Nasri can offer similar qualities if he rediscovers his form.
Which City player’s next for Nice, then?
