AC Milan have just sent the strongest message of the summer with crushing win over Bayern Munich

The big-spending Italians humiliated the Bundesliga champions in Shenzhen

Are you watching, Juventus?

AC Milan have spent a lot of money this summer, celebrating their lucrative takeover with the signings of Andre Silva, Hakan Calhanoglu, Leonardo Bonucci and others.

Juventus are searching for Leonardo Bonuccis replacement after his move to Milan

However their summer party was somewhat spoiled when they lost 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund in a pre-season friendly a few days ago.

Today they sent a message to Juventus and their other Serie A rivals with an emphatic 4-0 win over the mighty Bayern Munich.

The two teams met in the seemingly inexhaustible International Champions Cup in Shenzhen, China.

19-year-old forward Patrick Cutrone scored twice in the first half against a Bayern team that included Mats Hummels, David Alaba, Franck Ribery, Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski.

New signing Franck Kessie gave Milan the lead after 14 minutes.

The ex-Atalanta midfielder was also wanted by Chelsea and Man United before his move to Milan in early June.

Turkish playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu completed the rout with five minutes to go after he jinked in from the wing and finished with a low drive.

Bayern’s English Twitter account didn’t exactly take it well…

James Rodriguez featured in the second half but it was another disappointing pre-season run out for Bayern who lost their first International Champions Cup game to Arsenal on penalties.

Milan have spent over £160million already this summer.

Andrea Conti, Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez, Lucas Biglia and Fabio Borini join Bonucci, Calhanoglu, Silva and Kessie on the new recruit list.

The Italian giants have also signed Antonio Donnarumma, older brother of current first-choice keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

While it’s risky to read too much into pre-season friendlies, all the signs point to a much more competitive Serie A campaign compared to recent years.
