REAL MADRID believe they will land Kylian Mbappe for a world-record £120million fee.
SunSport can reveal Real chiefs have been working on the deal for the past month — and that an agreement is thought to be in place with Monaco and the player.
Real expect to complete the signing in the next two weeks, with £91.5m in the pipeline from the sales of Alvaro Morata and Danilo.
President Florentino Perez is under pressure to make good on the promise of a Galactico signing, which saw him re-elected unopposed last month.
But Real’s creditors insisted the club must sell before they could spend big, which has delayed a potential transfer for the 18-year-old striker.
And there is an option for Monaco to sign Real’s Karim Benzema in part-exchange for Mbappe, although this would reduce the cash element of the deal. Monaco have publicly resisted all interest in the striker.
But it is understood that Mbappe’s desire to move to Real, as well as the huge fee, have swayed the decision.
Real boss Zinedine Zidane has praised the starlet. He said: “He’s a very good player. His talent at 18 years and his personality is very good.
“As a player, I like everything he showed last year. He’s not my player so I can’t say more.”
Monaco threatened to report ‘important clubs’ — believed to be Manchester City and Paris Saint- Germain — to Fifa for unacceptable approaches for their star striker.
