Pep Guardiola must be furious.
Gabriel Jesus was stretchered off during Brazil’s friendly with Argentina on Sunday after a clash with Man City club-mate Nicolas Otamendi.
The 20-year-old was caught with an elbow by the Argentine centre-back as the pair competed for the ball.
The clash between the two City men came towards the end of the Samba Boys’ 1-0 loss at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Jesus was hit by a flailing elbow from Otamendi that left him needing lengthy medical treatment.
He was then placed on the stretcher and carried from the field – much to the dismay of Man City supporters everywhere…
Even if he makes quick recovery, Jesus is unlikely to be risked for Brazil’s friendly against Australia on Tuesday.
Although it does not appear to be serious, the blow will have been the last thing Pep Guardiola wanted to see, especially as it was inflicted by one of his other troops.
Jesus missed an open goal earlier in the game but Brazil were able to hold on for the win regardless of the squandered opportunity.
Gabriel Mercado scored the only goal of the game in front of 95,000 supporters in Melbourne.
