DREAM TEAM POINTS: Arsenal 2 Chelsea 1 – FA Cup Final

See the Dream Team points from the FA Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea

Arsenal defeated ten-man Chelsea to win 2-1 and secure the FA Cup for a record 13th time.

It was a superb performance from Arsene Wenger’s side, who were largely written off in the build-up to the match.

The Gunners took an early lead through Alexis Sanchez, though the goal came through hugely controversial circumstances, with Aaron Ramsey standing in an offside position and Sanchez handling the ball in the build up to the goal.

The North London club also hit the post through Danny Welbeck in a first half Wenger’s side dominated.

Per Mertesacker, who had only played once this season, was in inspired form as the North London club looked a team determined to win another major trophy for Wenger.

The second half brought about its own controversy, as Victor Moses was sent off for a second bookable offence, with the right wing-back adjudged to have dived in the box.

Replays showed referee Anthony Taylor was correct in his decision, but it didn’t stop Chelsea from levelling the game through Diego Costa.

The Spanish striker, who may be playing in his final game for the Blues, held off a challenge and fired a shot past David Ospina, who should have done better.

As the game lay level, it looked certain to go to extra time. But Arsenal had other plans, and within a minute the Gunners were back in front.

Olivier Giroud, who had only just come on as a substitute, made a brilliant run down the left before crossing the ball in for the unmarked Ramsey, who headed home into an unguarded net.

It was a pulsating affair, and one that secured Arsene Wenger’s record seventh FA Cup triumph, alongside his club’s record 13th FA Cup victory.
