Monaco are wasting little time building on their title winning season.
Having already secured the signing of Anderlecht’s highly rated Youri Tielemans, Monaco have now agreed a deal with Lyon for right-back Jordy Gaspar, according to Mohamed Bouhafsi.
Gaspar, who’s been repeatedly linked with Liverpool, played twice in Ligue 1 for Lyon this season.
The 20-year-old, who’s been capped for France at Under-19 and Under-20 level, also played against Sevilla in the Champions League.
According to the reports he’ll sign a three-year deal as long as he passes the dreaded medical examination.
It remains to be seen whether Gaspar has been signed to compete with or replace Monaco’s current right-back Djibril Sidibe.
But Monaco have massively profited off signing youngsters from Lyon in the past.
Claudio Ranieri oversaw the arrival of Anthony Martial, whom he rates as a better signing than N’Golo Kante, for around £5million in 2013.
Two years later and Martial was being sold to Man United in a deal that could rise to £58mil. Dilly Ding Dilly Dong.
If Gaspar does sign for Monaco it will open the possibility of Sidibe leaving, given they’ve also got Almamy Toure.
