ANGEL DI MARIA is eyeing a sensational Real Madrid return to fill gap left by James Rodriguez’s potential move to Manchester United.
Zinedine Zidane could be tempted to make a move for the Argentine should he lose Rodriguez in the summer window.
Man United are the prime candidates to sign the Colombian, however a host of Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are all keen.
With Rodriguez set to finally put an end to his bit-part role in Madrid to an end, Zidane will be looking for fresh blood.
Reports in Spain suggest the Frenchman is looking at former Galactico Di Maria, who infamously swapped Madrid for a flop spell at United.
However, he has impressed in Ligue 1 with PSG, scoring 16 goals and laying-on 25 assists across his two years in the French capital.
Now Di Maria – who played for Real between 2010 and 2014 – has ordered a meeting with Real president Florentino Perez as he looks to get back down to business in La Liga.
After he left Madrid for Man United, Di Maria penned an open letter to fans, saying he never wanted to leave the club.
He added he was disappointed the club blamed his wage demands as the ultimate reason for his exit.
However, Spanish outlet Don Balon are claiming no move will happen until both parties have set aside their differences.
Di Maria has turned out 40 times in all competitions this season, scoring 11 goals.
It was not enough for PSG to win the Ligue 1 title however, as they fell eight points short of eventual winners Monaco.
