We all just assume footballers live the life of luxury, right?
With huge wages, advertising deals and incentives, it’s considered the norm that professional players are living it up in high-class apartments and lavish mansions.
Well, not Bernardo Silva.
The new Manchester City man might be able to buy a slightly larger house now he’s in England, because the apartment he was living in at former club Monaco was laughably tiny.
In an interview for Portuguese sports network Sports TV, Silva invited former Portugal international Simao into his cosy abode.
Many pointed to the club’s admirably strict wage structure compared to other French clubs, coupled with the high price of rent in the principality.
In fact, despite the quality throughout the Monaco squad, it is thought only Joao Moutinho and Radamel Falcao earn large wages.
The midfielder was instrumental for Monaco this season, with Les Rouges et Blancs exceeding all expectations by challenging at the top of the Ligue 1 table and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
