Liverpool have unveiled their brand spanking new kit for next season – and it’s a joy to behold.
The Reds have marked the club’s 125-year anniversary since their founding with a distinctly retro feel.
The 2017/18 season shirt echoes the jerseys worn during their famous European Cup final triumphs in Rome in 1977 and 1984.
And Liverpool fans will get to see it in action sooner than they might have anticipated.
Their players will get to show off their new look on the final day of the season in their home clash with Middlesbrough.
The shirt contains a badge commemorating the anniversary, while the Liverbird emblem will also be flanked by the years 1892 and 2017.
After coming in for criticism in recent seasons, New Balance have produced a kit that has seen a welcome return to the ‘blood red’ of the golden generations of the 1970s.
“This kit is special,” said captain Jordan Henderson.
“Our 125th anniversary is great moment to celebrate our heritage and this kit really reflects that. I will wear it with pride.”
