FIFA 19: How to go from retail worker to FIFA-pro in just one year

We talk to professional FIFA player 'Fully' about turning pro and the Gfinity Elite Series

The life of a pro gamer isn’t as easy as it appears.

Countless hours of practice, weekends on your own fine-tuning your craft and every waking minute thinking about streaming, social media and upcoming tournaments.

23-year-old pro-FIFA player Fully, who played for Dream Team Gaming in the Gfinity Elite Series delivered by Dominos, knows all too well the ups and downs of competitive gaming following his transition from working in retail to full-time gaming athlete.

You would think that from looking out it’s easy and fun, but it’s really as stressful as working at H&M,” he said,

The first game that I went professional in was FIFA 17 I qualified for like 2 events and that’s when I thought I can do this as a job”

Quitting his job wasn’t the only sacrifice Fully had to make, but for him the decision was easy.

Sacrifices would be going out with friends, spending time with family, everything you can think of I have sacrificed, just to practice.”

He continued adding, “If you really want to get somewhere you will make the sacrifice.”

Having played for a number of different teams throughout the lifespan of the Elite Series and competing in tournaments on his own, Fully has his eyes set on winning it big claiming his ultimate goal is to win a major title.

Fully saw being back in the Elite Series competing for DTG as a huge opportunity, despite the results not going quite the way he would have liked, he stayed optimistic till the end.

“I feel like we can win even though we might not have the strongest team, we are good with the players. I think it’s a great opportunity to excel”

Not only did Fully get the chance to show off his skills every week on the Xbox with teammate TheeBullock, he also featured in a sketch with hugely popular YouTubers ‘TheF2’.

Having now been playing FIFA competitively for two years Fully is looking towards changing the games he plays for the better saying,

I think I want to go into game designing, I feel like playing games I see the issues, so then taking in that I know like common issues” he continued.

“I could fix them if I was to be the one developing.”

Although DTG is now out of the competition, the team alongside some familiar faces will almost certainly be back with a better team and more fire than ever to compete again.
