Real Madrid are flogging a shirt for £132 for a player that doesn’t even exist

You've got to be kidding me

Real Madrid are selling shirts costing upwards of £130 for the fictional star of FIFA’s The Journey – Alex Hunter.

The shirts appeared in the Los Blancos store after EA confirmed Hunter would be joining the club for his final outing in FIFA 19.

For around £50, you can snap up a sassy Hunter mini away kit.

But those after the premium Hunter experience will have to fork out £132 for a long-sleeve shirt with the fictional star’s name printed on the back.

These will sell like hot cakes… not

Unsurprisingly, this hasn’t gone down too well with FIFA fans on the game’s dedicated sub-Reddit.

One wrote: “132 quid.. Must be some good weed over in Madrid.”

Another said: “Daft too. First team players in La Liga have to wear a shirt number between 1 and 25.”

But our favourite comment has to go to this legend, who simply wrote: “Ultimate cringe.”

EA has long sought to blur the lines between FIFA and real life – going so far as creating a dedicated Alex Hunter Twitter account.

The EA PR Team even sent a press release this week ‘quoting’ the star as if he was a real person. Just look what he had to say about his move to Los Blancos.

“It’s everything I’ve ever wanted, simple as that.” said Hunter. “To join Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world, is what every kid like me dreams about.

“And on top of it all, I’m just buzzing to finally get my chance to play in the biggest club competition in the world, the UEFA Champions League.”

Sorry to break it to you, mate, but you’re not real.
