His free kick may have been the saviour of Germany’s World Cup campaign, but on FIFA, Toni Kroos would be well down the pecking order for set plays.
That’s because despite a boosted World Cup card following Germany’s emphatic 2-1 win against Sweden, EA Sports has only given the star an 84 rating for free kicks.
This is the same player who, as his team was facing elimination from the tournament, rocketed a free kick into the top corner.
What is going on?
To help put this into perspective, Swedish defender Andreas Granqvist was boosted up to 95 penalties for the match before – after scoring against South Korea.
This isn’t the first time Kroos has had a raw deal from EA.
Earlier in the year, the Real Madrid star tweeted to EA asking them for a pace upgrade – after the developer gave him a pitiful 50 score.
Thankfully, the pressure paid off, and Kroos was given a huge 10 point boost for pace in his World Cup card.
His new card boasts 65 for speed – which isn’t fast, but certainly far better than his original score.
Still, he’ll feel hard done by for that free kick rating.
