PES 2019 may feature a fully licenced Real Madrid in what would be a huge coup for Konami.
It follows the game’s brand director Jonas Lygaard tweeting a cryptic post – suggesting the Bernabeu would be making an appearance.
Previously, Los Blancos were called ‘Md White’ in the game – boasting an incredibly lame white kit that looked like some sort of school P.E. outfit.
However, a three-year exclusivity deal between EA Sports and Real Madrid is coming to an end this year – meaning there’s every chance the fully-licenced team will appear in both games.
It could also have serious implications for the PES marketing campaign.
Despite David Beckham and Philippe Coutinho spearheading the PES 2019 campaign thus far, Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably a bigger name.
Should Konami acquire the licence, they may rethink their cover to feature the Portuguese superstar.
So, what else can we expect from this year’s PES?
Well, apart from the addition of a number of brilliant celebrations, there’s also been a significant overhaul in gameplay and visuals.
This year’s game takes player individuality to the next level by introducing 11 new skills.
These include cross-over turn, no-look pass, controlled chip, dipping shot and rising shot.
Players will also show Visible Fatigue, which will impact performance and behaviour.
Elsewhere, new shooting mechanics will take into account improved ball physics, player and ball position, and player skills and shot styles.
Thanks to ‘Enlighten’ software, true-to-life visual effects and 4K HDR is supported across all platforms.
Real time ‘Global Illumination’ lighting and shadows results in better crowd detail, real grass textures and the return of the popular snow weather effect.
We can’t wait.
