For years, gamers who play FIFA on different consoles haven’t been able to play each other. But that could all be about to change.
In an interview with Eurogamer, FIFA’s creative director Matt Prior revealed cross-platform play – much like we’ve seen in Fortnite – was something EA Sports is looking into for their FIFA series.

“It’s something we often talk about,” he said.
“There are a lot of issues to work through with various first parties. But Fortnite does that now with PC to consoles.”
Part of Fortnite’s success can be put down to the ability for gamers to play across platforms.
PC, Xbox, PlayStation, iPhone and most recently Nintendo Switch players can all hop into a game together.
Prior added: “From a consumer standpoint, it makes the community that much broader, which makes it that much more compelling.”

Although, Prior didn’t confirm whether cross-platform play would be coming to FIFA 19 or even FIFA 20, he suggested the series is heading in that direction.
“I’m not making any promises. But you’ve seen that [cross-platform play] happen for the first time recently.” he said.
“I think it would be a net benefit to the users… one day”
The ability to host one FUT across all your different games consoles would certainly put EA Sports in a good light with the players.
