The greatest tournament in the world has finally arrived on FIFA 18.
Available as a free download, the FIFA 18 World Cup expansion features all teams in the tournament, as well as all the stadiums.
So, we couldn’t resist seeing how well England would do.
Just like in Career Mode, you’re able to sim or play the games. We chose the former, as our FIFA ability is questionable to say the least.
Can Gareth Southgate’s men make history? Or, as we’ve come to expect, will they buckle under the pressure of a nation?
As in real life, England have ended up in a semi-decent group.
Tunisia and Panama are certainly winnable games, with the only sticking point coming in the form of Belgium.
If we don’t get out of the group, it’ll be seen as a huge missed opportunity.
Game 1: England v Tunisia
It’s a nightmare start from Southgate’s boys who lose their game first game of the tournament 2-1.
Captain Harry Kane gets his name on the score sheet but it’s not enough to fend off a tenacious Tunisia.
This could get ugly…
Game 2: England v Panama
Seriously, a loss here would have been one of the biggest upsets in football history.
A decent show from England, showing plenty of character – but worryingly still concede a goal.
(Yes, we know Joe Hart is in goal for us but EA Sports has said they’ll be updating the teams so the West Ham pariah won’t feature).
Hopefully England can take this momentum in to the next game – their biggest challenge – against Belgium.
Game 3: England v Belgium
You’ve got to be kidding.
England lose 2-0 against a fired-up Belgium team and with that get jettisoned from the tournament, without even making it through the group.
Tunisia and Belgium go into the next stage while England and Panama are left licking their wounds.
So, there you have it.
According to the FIFA 18 World Cup update, England won’t even make it out of the group stage.
