Konami is said to be preparing an outlandish bid for the EA Sports ‘Champions Cup’ after the publisher lost the Champions League licence for PES.
The fictional Champions Cup was used in FIFA because EA did not have the licence to use the official Champions League name.
However, with the licence almost certain to be included in FIFA 19 – Konami is eyeing the ‘Cup’ as the perfect replacement to soften the blow.
Trad Bricks, West Midlands Village and MD White are three clubs throwing their weight behind the move.
MD White club spokesperson Lee Satchell said: “We are absolutely behind this play from Konami.

“The Champions Cup was stolen by EA Sports more than 10 years ago so we’re thrilled to be on the brink of getting it back.
“To be fair, it was always part of the plan – who needs official licences? No one cares about that stuff, anyway.”
Some former PES greats have also backed the move from Konami.
PES 2 legend Roberto Larcos, who now runs a landscape gardening business, told Dream Team that he’ll ‘feel right at home’ playing for the Champions Cup.
“This absolutely needs to happen,” he added. “Maybe one day I play again”.
Former PES Master League stars Dodo and Espimas have said they will come out of retirement if the Cup comes to PES.
