An Instagram picture appearing to show a player getting his face scanned for FIFA 19 was posted before promptly being deleted.
New York City FC confirmed last week their players were going through EA’s facial scanning process for inclusion in the game.
As FIFA 18 has been out for months now – and the fact the image was removed – there’s little doubt the scans will be for FIFA 19.
Luxembourg centre-back Maxime Chanot is the first player confirmed to have been head-scanned.
The posted a snap with the caption: “@easportsfifa Head Scan Day”. It was then removed but not before reddit user Soovin screen-grabbed it.
David Villa is the only New York City FC player on FIFA 18 who has been face scanned – so the image confirms other players will join the ranks.
So, when are we going to catch our first glimpse of FIFA 19?
FIFA fans will be treated to a first look at this year’s game at EA Play in June.
EA Sports is heading to in Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles where they will unveil their 2018 games portfolio – one of which will be FIFA 19.
Who’s going to be the cover star?
Cristiano Ronaldo was a no-brainer last year – especially given that PES has the rights to Lionel Messi et al.
That being said, Ronaldo’s been off colour of late so faces pressure from the likes of Harry Kane or Neymar.
EA markets FIFA as the global game, and for that to work they need a global star. Ronaldo is the obvious choice – but on merit, perhaps it’s time for EA to look elsewhere.
When’s the cover star going to be announced?
FIFA 19 will be unveiled at E3, LA in June – so we’ll probably catch our first glimpse then.
We’ll also have a new trailer drop around that time – although don’t expect to see much gameplay.
