Grand Theft Auto 6 is ‘in development’ but you may be waiting some time.
Red Dead Redemption 2 arrives in October but already excitement for the next GTA risks overshadowing the upcoming western.
One of the biggest talking points about GTA 6 is the trailer – which will land sometime before the main game releases.
So, when is the trailer going to come out?
There’s every chance that we may get a very, very early sneak peak at the end of the year – or maybe a few months before at E3 in LA in June.
The latter is incredibly unlikely, though.
We bet we’ll start seeing first teaser images and hints arriving around next year. The good news is that, if history is anything to go by, the trailer drops roughly a year before the game comes out (as was the case with GTA IV) – so it’ll give us a definitive time frame.
What kind of trailer can we expect?
Rockstar usually make the first trailer pretty short and cryptic.
To give you an idea, here’s the GTA IV trailer – which arrived in May 2007.
Will the trailer use the in-game engine?
GTA 6 will likely be powered by a modified version of the Red Dead 2 engine – which is capable of some pretty impressive visuals.
RDR2 uses the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), which includes a proprietary physics engine, and runs along with the Euphoria animation engine.
Euphoria is what lets characters interact with the environment in a physically realistic way. So, if they crash a car, they fly through the windscreen etc.
Expect the PC version of GTA 6 to be mod-friendly, too.
Has anyone tried to make a GTA 6 trailer?
Oh yes – check out this fan made version!
It’s a little rough around the edges, but A+ for effort.
Anything else I need to know?
Yes – lots of people are calling for GTA 6 to have a female lead character – and we’d agree.
There’s nothing been confirmed as yet but if they do feature we’d almost certainly see them appear in the trailer.
