FIFA 18 is packed full of incredible details – but this bizarre one has to be our favourite.
A clip emerged on the FIFA sub-reddit showing just how much effort the team has put in to player animations this year – with eye-watering results.
The clip shows Man United’s Antonio Valencia get a ball kicked full pelt into his gonads…
Rather than just walk it off, EA have modelled every little bit of the painful animation – including the facial expression.
Look at him… you can almost feel the pain.
The improved graphics come courtesy of the Frostbite engine, which has been tweaked and improved since last year.
EA revealed they ‘played it safe’ with FIFA 17 – because of they were still getting to grips with the new Frostbite engine.
He told the website: “Last year we got FIFA on to Frostbite for the first time. This year we’ll see the second version of it on Frostbite which, you’ll see, looks a lot better, plays a lot better, and is more of a complete transformation from what the game was, which was always going to be the case.
“When you move technology platform like we did on FIFA, you have to balance risk vs reward, and you have to make sure the game actually works and that you don’t screw things up that were good in the previous generation, but still improve.
“So we had to play it a little bit safe with last year’s game, FIFA 17, and with FIFA 18 this year we can go all in, and you can see it. You can see the game looks better, plays better, we’ve been able to take more risk and push the engine harder, which I hope people are going to see.”
Speaking about FIFA 18, the FIFA 18 web app is set to launch in the next day or so.
The app will serve to kick things off for the new game – allowing users to collect daily gifts and build squads early.
We go through everything you need to know about the FIFA 18 Web App.
When is the Web App released?
FIFA fan website Ultimate Team states that although there is no concrete release date, it’s possible to make accurate predictions based on EA’s release schedule in previous years.
They predict the FIFA 18 Web App will launch this week on September 21.
How much does the app cost?
The Web App is completely free so make sure to get in on the action.
What is the Webstart and will it return?
The Webstart will definitely be coming back this year. It allows you to trade and make coins, collect daily gifts and open returning user FUT packs.
Play it right and it’ll give you a real edge come FIFA 18 launch.
Sounds great – should I just open loads of packs when it launches?
Nope! Ultimate Team recommends Webstart users to avoid splurging FUT coins on packs during this period.
