PES 2018: Konami is getting torn to shreds by its own fans for YET ANOTHER howler

Just what is going on with the PES marketing team?

PES 2018 maker Konami has made another marketing blunder.

The Japanese developer pumped out a picture of the game with Neymar in Barcelona colours on the front cover – just days after doing exactly the same thing last week.

The Brazilian made a world-record move to PSG but Konami still thought it would be a good idea to promote the now out-of-date ‘Barcelona edition’ cover.

NOT PICKED YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL TEAM YET? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Fans were quick to spot something was aloof and vented their frustration on the PES 2018 Facebook page.

“Why Neymar is there? Is this a joke?,” one fan wrote. “Think you need new cover,” wrote another.

Last week, Konami released a PES 2018 Chile trailer – which, yet again, showcased a cover that featured Neymar.

This was despite him signing for PSG hours before.

The former Barcelona player, 25, was an integral part of the PES 2018 marketing campaign – and was used in an earlier reveal trailer.

However, the Japanese publisher now faces an uphill task of trying to find a replacement after the Brazilian completed the £198million move to France.

It’s not only us that noticed the huge mistake by Konami; Twitter was in meltdown over the blunder – with many demanding to know who will be taking his place.

It comes as FIFA 18 developer EA revealed Neymar in PSG colours using the in-game Frostbite engine – posting a short trailer of him in action on Twitter.

Earlier in the week, Konami revealed Usain Bolt will be playable for those who pre-order PES 2018.

The sprinter will be the fastest player in the game, which launches on September 14.

FIFA 18 meanwhile, kicks off on September 29 – and features Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover.
