FIFA gamers are not happy with EA right now.
The company, which kicked off the FIFA 17 FUTTIES Ultimate Team promotion last week, has come under fire over the return of ‘Favourite Squad Building Challenges’ (SBCs).
It was promised that these would be returning, allowing gamers to once again try and snap up a boosted player card as a result.
But now, it seems, the reward will be a loan player – who will only be available for a short period of time.
Unsurprisingly, it’s caused a huge backlash on social media – both on Twitter and the FIFA sub-reddit.
One fan wrote on the sub-reddit: “It is just really strange. Who would want loan players anyway, especially at this point of the game.
“I’m not mad because I didn’t really plan to do many anyway, but I’m just genuinely confused on what they were thinking.”
Another added: “It would be one thing if loan players had chemistry with everyone like legend do. That way you can fit a good loan player into your existing squad temporarily.
“But at this point in the game we all probably have so much invested in our current squads, it seems ridiculous to build a new squad around a player who you will only have temporarily.”
FUTTIES are special award in-form cards chosen by the community of FIFA players. The promotion lasts six weeks and will see 30 players get a pink card across 10 categories.
The players with the most amount of votes in a category will be awarded a special FUT card with upgraded stats.
Chris Smalling was announced as the winner of the CB vote earlier in the week.
So, how can I get my hands on a pink card?
Firstly, you’re going to have to complete a FUTTIES Nomination SBC. By doing this, you will get a pink FUTTIES Nominee item with base stats of the player you voted for.
The player with the most completed Nomination SBCs will win each category.
The FUTTIES Winner item will then be made available with boosted stats. It’ll feature a gold trim to signify their accomplishment in a separate Winner SBC.
You then need to complete this to get the card.
The cards are untradeable, so you won’t be able to buy them from the market.
How much of a boost do players usually get?
According to fan website FIFAuteam. ratings and attributes of the FIFA 17 FUTTIES cards are usually boosted by ‘one or two points’, compared with their last TOTW/MOTM/iMOTM/Hero cards.
Is anything going to happen to the market?
FUTTIES are untradeable so they won’t affect the market.
