FIFA 18 isn’t too far away now – which can only mean one thing. A new Ultimate Team.
While the last game did a lot right, there’s still plenty that could be improved.
We pick out 10 changes fans want to see in FIFA 18 – let’s kick off.
Better rewards for winning
Right now, the rewards for winning games and leagues are not as good as you’d hope.
Healing cards alone cost several games’ worth of coins.
More coins should be offered for winning matches and divisions.
If rewards were bigger then pack prices wouldn’t seem as steep.
Premium gold packs cost around 7,500 coins – which can take time to save up.
This makes the FIFA point route more appealing, but they are ridiculously expensive.
Expect to fork out nearly £80 for 12,000 points if you’re trying to avoid eating into your hard-earned coins.
In real football, if a player makes a run but notices they’re offside, they’ll back away from the ball.
However, in FIFA 17, this doesn’t happen – and they continue running until they’re caught by the referee.
An extra level of AI would really help come FIFA 18.
Squad contract cards
Some fans want to see contract and fitness cards removed from the game.
If they are here to stay, we’d love to see squad contract cards.
Instead of going through each player and offering them a contract, an ability to cover them all off with one fell swoop would be a master stroke.
On Futhead you can put together a Generations Squad and use cards from any version of FIFA Ultimate Team.
It would be brilliant if this was brought to life in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team.
Perhaps there could be a new Generations FUT draft mode?
Legends on PS4
Thanks to an exclusive deal between Microsoft and EA, Legends are only available on Xbox.
Surely, though, this needs to come to an end.
There are millions of PS4 players who are desperate to get their hands on some of the greatest ever players.
Create your own badges and kits
You may end up seeing some hilarious kits, but having the ability to create your own would be most welcome.
Actually come to think of it, we’d like custom chants, too.
Imagine if you’re winning a match and then the crowd start blurting out your best chant.
It would add a new level of authenticity to the game.
Ability to loan your players
A try-before-you-buy system could be a great way of testing out whether a player is a good fit for your team.
Loaning a play could also be an easy way of getting a few extra coins – say, if you’re away on holiday or unavailable to play the game for a while.
It’s perfect if you have an untradeable player for a league you do not play in.
Position changes for players that can play multiple positions
FIFA 18 needs to give gamers the ability to switch players into another position they’re capable of playing.
So, for example, you could swap regular Cristiano Ronaldo from a left winger to a striker without the need to have him on seven chemistry.
Collisions with own team mates is something that really annoys everyone.
Too often your teammates get in the way and locks you into an annoying animation.
This needs fixing pronto.
