Roberto Martinez’s side cruised through the qualification process winning all TEN of their fixtures – scoring 40 goals and conceding just three.
They are also showed a ruthless streak in their most recent World Cup 2022 qualifier having stuck EIGHT past a helpless Belarus.
And then there’s the small matter of the players at their disposal with Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard all making their 26-man squad for this summer’s competition.
Belgium start their campaign with a match against Russia on June 12th in Saint Petersburg.
That could be an electric start for manager Martinez and Dream Team bosses alike given Belgium have put ten past Russia in their last three meetings.
They will then take on Denmark and Finland in their other two fixtures.
Should they top Group B – which appears almost a formality – Belgium will face the best third-placed team from Group A, D, E or F.
So who are the best Belgian assets?
Kevin De Bruyne is the obvious choice and managers clearly don’t mind paying £6.0m for his services given he’s already in 66.7% of registered teams.
The Man City superstar is a nailed-on starter, takes set-pieces and arrives having scored 10 goals and provided 18 assists in the 2020/21 campaign.
Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku is another who looks borderline essential at £6.0m.
The centre-forward is in the form of his life after notching up 24 goals and ten assists in the league to guide Inter to their first Serie A title in 11 years.
Lukaku also boasts a scintillating record at international level with 51 goals in 91 matches – he’s also his country’s designated penalty-taker.
Eden Hazard is another of Belgium’s highly-owned assets – but caution is advised given his recent injury record and lack of competitive action for Real Madrid this season.
Looking at defensive options, marauding wing-backs Thomas Meunier and Timothy Castagne are both excellent options with Belgium often deploying three central defenders.
Three goals conceded in ten qualifying games has made Thibaut Courtois and Toby Alderweireld popular choices, understandably so.
Most-popular Belgium players (ownership) among Dream Team Euros managers at this stage:
- Kevin De Bruyne – 66.7%
- Romelu Lukaku – 41.7%
- Thibaut Courtois – 25.2%
- Eden Hazard – 14.7%
- Toby Alderweireld – 13.2%
