AUBA OUT

It’s time for Dream Team bosses to pull the plug on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Another week, another blank for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£5.5m).

The Arsenal attacker is unquestionably one of the biggest Dream Team disappointments of the season.

Poor form has seen his value drop from £6.5m to £5.5m in just nine weeks — you don’t need to be Gordon Gekko to see that’s a bad investment.

Things were looking good at the beginning of the campaign when the Gabon international picked up 12 points in his opening two fixtures.

But much like Arsenal’s fortunes, it’s been a rather steep decline ever since.

Which begs the question: why is he still the tenth most-popular player in the entire game?

Aubameyang has registered just 24 points for Dream Team bosses – that’s less than Everton’s Bernard (£2.4m) who’s only started ONE Premier League games this season.

For less money managers could bring in heavy-hitters like Timo Werner (£5m), Son Heung-min (£5.2m) or Marcus Rashford (£4.6), who have all scored over 70 points.

The 31-year-old has also blanked on SIX occasions this term for the 27.2% of gaffers who gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Aubameyang has mustered just 13 goal attempts this season and is averaging a chance every 62.1 minutes.

Even Brighton’s Yves Bissouma (£1.0m) betters those statistics.

Of course, the blame isn’t entirely on Aubameyang’s shoulders.

He’s playing in a side with a tally of nine league goals all season – the same as Song Heung-min (£5.2m) – and who’ve created less big chances than Crystal Palace, Brighton and Leeds.

Mikel Arteta has frequently used the usually potent marksman as a left winger, despite clamour for the Gabonese poacher to be played through the middle.

So in the immortal words of Arsenal Fan TV’s Claude… “it’s time to go!”

Surely even the most patient Dream Team gaffer accepts it’s time for a change now?
