But a spanner has potentially been thrown in the works courtesy of two very popular Man City players testing positive for coronavirus.
City confirmed on Monday that star men Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte both have the virus, which means they’ll now be forced to self-isolate.
The pair are reportedly not showing any symptoms, but will be forced to stay away from the team in the meantime.
The quarantine period in the UK for people with a positive reading is generally 14 days, with City’s first Premier League game against Wolves taking place on September 21 – just 12 days away.
Mahrez was one of the most reliable players on the game last term and even made our best XI of the season with 208 points.
The Algerian is currently being picked by over 7% of managers.
In contrast, teammate Laporte suffered a frustrating 2019/20 with periods in and out of City’s team through injury.
Despite that, he’s widely considered one of the best defenders in the league and his extended absence from their squad last year is perhaps partly to blame for their awful league title-defence.
The Frenchman is Dream Team’s fifth-most popular defender on the game right now, with over 16% of managers choosing him.
Many of you will now have to make a tricky decision – stick with the duo, or make a change?
Luckily, you still have a few days before the season starts and that means you’re welcome to make as many transfers to your team as you like before Saturday’s kick off.
A decision also needs to be made on another big Dream Team star, Wolves’ muscly winger Adama Traore, after he pulled out of Spain’s Nations League squad when he tested positive for the coronavirus as well.
Much like with Laporte, Traore is a huge favourite on the game with over 14% of managers picking him.
