Dream Team’s worst player this season enjoyed the second-best points return this weekend

Ismaila Sarr? Sebastien Haller? Phil Foden?

Dream Team’s Team of the Week for Game Week 27 was full of surprise faces in an overall bizarre weekend for fantasy football fans.

But while Sarr was the big hero with 20 points for his heroics in Watford’s shock win over Liverpool, Jamal Lewis’ run-out for Norwich was perhaps the most surprising.

The defender scored the only goal of their game against Leicester to secure his side all three points and keep their Premier League survival hopes alive.

With 20 minutes to go in the match, he was picked out from a cross on the opposite flank and, before controlling the ball with his chest, hit a sensational volley to send Carrow Road into ecstasy.

It was his first goal in the top-flight and undoubtedly his finest moment of Norwich’s difficult campaign so far.

With that goal, along with the game’s Star Man award and Norwich’s clean-sheet, Lewis picked a fine sum of 18 points which will go along way to improving his overall season.

Before Game Week 27, the defender was the WORST player you could pick on the game with an awful total of -13 points.

To put that into some kind of context, we reported on Ryan Bertrand’s terrible night with Southampton in their 9-0 capitulation against Leicester back in October which earned him -11 points – thanks to the nine goals conceded on top of his red card.

No player has endured a worse Game Week in the recent history of Dream Team than Bertrand, although Lewis looked doomed to finish the season well behind him thanks to his consistent accumulation of minus numbers.

But thanks to that one moment on Friday evening, the 22-year-old – who’s also one of the game’s cheapest players at just £0.5m – managed to break-even and now registers a grand total of 5 points on our game.

According to our stats centre, around 0.1% of you have selected the defender this season, so that’ll likely bring that small group of you some respite.

And our sympathies now lie with Southampton youngster Yan Valery, who’s taken Lewis’ place as the worst player on our game with -13 points.

It’s certainly lonely at the bottom of the Dream Team table.
