Is the Teemu Pukki Dream Team party officially over?

Dream Team gaffers thought they had a new attacking hero to rely on.

The first few Game Weeks of the Premier League season was all about one man, a man who had even failed to deliver at Celtic.

That man was Teemu Pukki, of course.

The Finnish finisher scored six goals in his opening five league games, including a stunning hat-trick against Newcastle and strikes against Liverpool, Chelsea AND Man City.

He even chipped in with two assists, helping him rack up an incredible 56 points on Dream Team by mid-September.

But the Pukki Party is well and truly over. In fact, the lights went up and the music stopped a while ago.

Since that stunning win over City, Pukki has played seven times and not just failed to register a single positive return, he’s actually LOST two points to his total.

That’s right.

In that dreadful seven game run he has scored no goals, registered no assists, failed to add any 7+ ratings and picked up two yellow cards.

Quite the fall from grace.

Pukki’s price has still risen £1.1m since the start of the season to £3.1m, but he is averaging -0.4 points per game over his last five matches.

The likes of Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison have since caught up with and surpassed him in the the total points rankings.

Norwich have been incredibly unlucky with injuries this season and are heavily reliant on Pukki’s goals.

So it’s been no great surprise to see them plummet down the Premier League table while the striker’s record has dried up.

He remains in 6.9% of teams but in the last five Game Weeks he has featured in the top 10 most transferred-out players three times.

Norwich’s recent fixtures haven’t exactly been testing either, with Pukki failing to score against the likes of Aston Villa, Brighton, Watford… and Man United.

They play Everton, Arsenal and Southampton in their next three, but we think the Pukki ship has sailed and it’s time to look elsewhere.

For that price Tammy Abraham (£2.7m) is still cheaper and the obvious option, while even Ashley Barnes (£3.1m) is a better alternative right now.

Thanks for the memories Teemu, but it’s time to move on.
