Fantasy football: What will Andriy Yarmolenko bring to the Premier League next season?

Andriy Yarmolenko has become the latest signing for West Ham under Manuel Pellegrini in a move that has excited Hammers and fantasy football fans alike.

The Ukrainian winger has joined the east London club from Borussia Dortmund in a deal believed believed to be worth around £17million.

Yarmolenko comes with a hefty reputation and plenty of experience to his name, having represented Ukraine on 76 occasions, scoring 35 goals for his country.

After impressing for Dynamo Kyiv, the 28-year-old got a £20million move to Dortmund last season, scoring six times in 26 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

The winger is the type of signing that West Ham supporters have been crying out for in recent years.

The move is somewhat of a coup for Pellegrini’s side and will go far in appeasing many of the disgruntled supporters.

Yarmolenko discussed the impact that West Ham’s new boss had on his decision to join the club, declaring that he was “very interested to begin working with him.”

The Ukrainian became the Hammers fifth summer signing of the window and follows in the footsteps of several other high profile arrivals this summer.

Jack Wilshere was announced just a few days before Yarmolenko’s arrival, with Felipe Anderson also set to join soon.

The transfer business signals a change of attitude from West Ham, which is making the rest of the league sit up and take notice.

The former Dortmund man has already played in the Champions League for both Kyiv and Dortmund and will hope to add invaluable experience to the side.

What could Yarmolenko bring to your fantasy football team?

Despite falling somewhat out of the pecking order at Dortmund, Yarmolenko is still a dangerous player who could prove to be a real asset to any Dream Team fans.

A winger with an eye for goal, the Ukrainian netted six times in all competitions for Dortmund including one in the Champions League against Spurs.

According to Dream Team’s ratings provider WhoScored, Yarmolenko had an underwhelming last season at 6.80.

Compared to West Ham’s other attacking players however, the Ukrainian does match up well.

Only Marko Arnautovic (7.07), Manuel Lanzini (7.04) and Michail Antonio (6.88) were ahead of him.

Towards the end of the season Yarmolenko was limited to cameo appearances from the bench as he fell out of favour at Dortmund.

West Ham have a very capable player however who was attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs before he made the move to Germany.

If Pellegrini can restore confidence in the new arrival, the east London club could have one of the league’s surprise packages on their hands.

So, what will he cost on Dream Team?

He’s yet to be priced up on Dream Team, however we’d estimate West Ham’s new man to be valued at around the £4m mark, judging on the prices of Andros Townsend and Theo Walcott last season.
