Anderlecht have applied to UEFA for an extra player ahead of their Champions League clash with PSG.
The Belgian side want to play a 8-2-1 formation against PSG’s front three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani, which would require an extra player.
Anderlecht have already conceded six goals despite the Champions League only being two games old.
An unofficial source, speaking through translator Lee Satchell, said: “The lads at Anderlecht are terrified of an absolute hiding.
“PSG scored six goals against Bordeaux, five against Celtic and three against Bayern Munich, so what chance do Anderlecht have?
“Mbappe was only three when Olivier Deschacht made his Anderlecht debut. And the Anderlecht keeper couldn’t get in Newcastle’s team last season. Newcastle!
“Anderlecht aren’t even in the top four of the Belgian First Division at the moment. Ever heard of Mouscron? Ever heard of Charleroi? Neither have we, but they’re all better than Anderlecht this season.
“So the only sensible option is for Anderlecht to get another player. Otherwise it will be carnage.
“Now that Cavani and Neymar have kissed and made up Anderlecht can’t even rely on Instagram to get in the way of PSG.
“The only other option is that it only counts as one goal when Cavani, Mbappe and Neymar score.
“We’re sure UEFA will understand.
“After all, football governing bodies always display plenty of common sense when it comes to things like this.”
