Inter were approached by Valerio Lattanzio, a man claiming to be representing Etihad.
Lattanzio pretended to be interested in brokering a sponsorship deal, with Inter’s current deal expiring at the end of the season.
He got as far as offering Inter a price, €25million-per-season according to Gazetta World, before the club clocked the scam.
Lattanzio was chancing his arm to try and pocket a nice slice of commission, before he was rumbled by Roman prosecutors.
