Mesut Ozil is a very generous man.
He lives to give.
The German playmaker finished the season with 19 assists, six more than second-place Christian Eriksen on 13.
Finishing as the top assist provider meant Ozil completed a unique hat-trick never achieved before.
He is the only player to have recorded the most assists for the season in the Premier League, Bundesliga and La Liga.
In 2009/10 Ozil made 17 assists for Werder Bremen to top the charts.
His overall record for Bremen is incredible — 55 assists in 108 games.
In his first season with Real Madrid, Ozil made 17 goals but was bested by a certain Lionel Messi who finished with 18.
The following season he proved his consistency by again providing 17 assists.
This time it was enough for him to top the list; Messi finished second place with 15.
And of course this season he led the way pretty much from the off as Arsenal’s central playmaker.
Ozil also finished as joint-highest assist provider at the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
His vision and sublime passing have earned him four German national team Player of the Year awards.
A remarkable achievement and a special player.
Long may his selflessness continue.
It’s a joy to watch.
