Footballer forced to deny death after media outlet claim he’d had heart attack

When news broke that Wesley Lopes, Romania’s most prolific foreign goalscorer, had passed away this morning everyone understandably feared the worst.

According to 101 Great Goals the 35-year-old passed away after suffering a heart attack while training.

The football community has already suffered a number of tragic losses this year, for example Patrick Ekeng, who passed away while playing for Dinamo Bucharest.

And when news of Lopes’ passing broke there was an outpouring of emotion for one of the best foreign players to grace Romanian football.

But then news came from the man himself that he was alive and well.

In fact he couldn’t have been in ruder health, chilling on a Brazilian beach when he began to get bombarded by calls from Romania.

He told Pro Sport: “I heard someone killed me. I still have a lot to live for!”
