This was about as Manchester United as it gets.
They huffed, and they puffed, and eventually they got over the line as they squeaked past Anderlecht to make the Europa League semi-finals and keep their hopes of reaching next season’s Champions League alive.
Henrik Mkhitaryan scored yet again in the competition to put United ahead but Sofiane Hanni bundled home an equaliser before half time.
The hosts missed a number of gilt-edged chances, namely Paul Pogba, and couldn’t find the winner in normal time so needed extra time to get the job done.
And after Zlatan Ibrahimovic had to be taken off with a horrible looking knee injury, Marcus Rashford stepped up to the mark in his absence to score the decisive goal with 14 minutes remaining.
It was enough to put United through to the last four, but more question marks were raised about Luke Shaw after the left back’s terrible offside line led to the Belgian side’s equaliser.
He then had the cheek to appeal for offside.
That won’t go down too well with Jose Mourinho…
