You may have missed it, but the search for the world’s biggest legend was called off over the weekend.
Well this man started doing the rounds on social media, rapidly becoming a viral phenomenon.
And this captain, leader and legend has a name.
He is Pedro Murilo Macedo de Souza, which sounds almost gladiatorial, but to me and you he is Masturbinho, literally translating as ‘little masturbator’.
He is a 20-year-old Brazilian fan living in Salzburg, Austria and was first spotted in his iconic attire at Tite’s side’s World Cup warm up game in Austria a couple of weeks ago.
Masturbinho took some time out his busy schedule of being a legend to talk to us about his thought process behind the shirt, his plans to keep the content strand going and to confirm if he really is a small w*****.
For the purposes of this interview we’ll call him MB for short. And yes, it really did set him back €60.
Me: “Hi Pedro! So first things first really… like, why? Why that shirt?”
Masturbinho (MB): “Two weeks before the Austria v Brazil game a friend sent me a picture of a guy with a Barcelona jersey with the same name.
“I wanted to buy a new Brazil shirt anyway and I thought it was hilarious so decided to do the same.”
Me: “And the number? Was that your choice too?”
MB: “I play American Football and my best friend is a lineman in our team. He has number 69.
“We always joke saying ALWAYS 69.”
Me: “Classic. Do you have any other shirts like it?”
MB: “No unfortunately not… but I plan to!”
MB: “I want to get Zhjerkov. Like jerk off.”
Me: “Haha, that’s hilarious. A Russian shirt? With 69 again?”
MB: “Yeah probably. It’s more catchy. Or just number 1.”
Me: “Where did you get it made?”
MB: “I ordered it online from an Austrian sports shop because I knew they might have something against it in store.”
Me: “Don’t blame you! What do your friends and family think of it all?”
MB: “First they thought it was a joke but then I showed up with the jersey in training and everyone loved the idea.
“My mum saw me ordering it. She said I am crazy because I paid €15 just to put the name on it. It was €60 in total.
“The rest of my family saw the photo on Facebook or Instagram and they liked it too.”
Me: “Do you wear it anywhere else?”
MB: “I will wear it at every game and sometimes in the gym.
“It’s just to make people laugh. That’s the main idea.”
Me: “Let’s talk football. What do you think of Brazil’s chances?”
MB: “Honestly I think we have really good chances to win the cup.
“Sunday [against Switzerland] was tough. Brazil struggles against teams who play hard.
“But it was not that bad. The first game is always bad.”
Me: “We’re all fully subscribed Bobby Firmino fans here at Dream Team. Do you think he should start over Gabriel Jesus? And what do you think of Neymar’s hair?”
MB: “I think should try to put them on the field at the same time!
“Neymar likes attention. If he gets it with the new hair I am OK with it.”
Me: “Thanks for your time Pedro! Enjoy the rest of the World Cup and good luck to Brazil!”
MB: “Thanks man, you too. Good luck to England!”
So what did we learn?
Well Mr Masturbinho’s mum is a staunch advocate of her son’s work, you should expect to see more of it in the future and Yuri Zhirkov should be very, very afraid.
