Oh, England. Why always us?
Gareth Southgate’s lads have prepared for the upcoming World Cup in some style over recent days, with victories over Nigeria and Costa Rica.
Marcus Rashford’s scored a worldie, Southgate himself is quietly playing a blinder, and fans were belting out Three Lions at Elland Road.
It feels good, right?
However, it’s not always been this way.
Before the 2014 World Cup, we played a truly forgettable final friendly against Honduras, scraping a 0-0 draw in Miami before jetting off to Brazil.
With arguably a better team than the current crop, it’s fair to say people were not impressed one bit.
Take that in contrast to this side – look, we know we probably won’t win the thing, and we’ve not even got on the plane to Russia yet, but the fans are fully on board with our boys.
