Didier Drogba rips a hole in the space-time continuum with 35-yard free-kick wondergoal

The former Ivory Coast international turned back the clock with a superb free-kick for Phoenix Rising

If the world is swallowed up into a black hole in the next few hours it will be Didier Drogba’s fault.

The Chelsea legend tested the resolve of the universe with an absolute thunderbolt for Phoenix Rising against LA Galaxy reserves.

The superb strike came after just 13 minutes as Drogba’s side won 2-0 away from home.

The 39-year-old, who is a co-owner at the American club, showed his class with a fine set piece in the United Soccer League fixture (USL)- America’s second tier.

The knuckleball free-kick, which left Galaxy’s reserve keeper Clement Diop looking helpless, took Drogba’s season tally to five.

The strike even drew praise from the opposition coach, who said: “He was a world class player in his day, I thought we did a decent job in neutralising him for the most part.

“But obviously the free kick was top shelf and sometimes you just have to tip your hat.”

Top shelf? It’s top drawer, mate.
