PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN kept up the pressure on Ligue 1 leaders Monaco after romping to a 4-0 win against St Etienne.
Edinson Cavani and Lucas Moura both bagged a brace before Julian Draxler netted late on at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard as Unai Emery’s men remain three points behind their rivals.
It was a lightning start for PSG as they raced into an early lead in just the second minute, as Edinson Cavani headed in his 48th goal of the season from close range after being found by left-back Maxwell.
The pressure from the away side was continuing to mount with Lucas Moura and Blaise Matuidi both guilty of squandering chances.
Les Verts then almost found themselves level on three occasions, first Kevin Theophile-Catherine seeing a shot go just wide from outside the box, before Romain Hamouma and Jordan Veretout both failed to hit the target from their attempts.
They were made to rue for their missed opportunities as Lucas doubled Unai Emery’s men lead, with a rifling right-footed strike into the roof of then net in the 38th minute.
There were no signs of PSG slowing down after the break, as Julian Draxler had a shot well saved by Stephane Ruffier, before Matuidi yet again missed for Les Parisiens.
Cavani somehow failed to add to his tally when he missed twice in quick succession, as he was foiled by Ruffier in the 66th minute, and then he dragged a left-footed strike wide of the goal.
However the Uruguayan international did manage to double his tally for the evening when he slotted home from close range into the bottom left corner in the 72nd minute.
Six minutes later Lucas got in on the act once more as his shot yet again proved to be too hot to handle for Ruffier down the centre of the goal.
It got worse for the home side in injury time as Draxler converted after being played in by Giovani Lo Celso, as he tucked his shot into the bottom right corner.
