While the club, the defender and Ronaldo all claimed the goal was the four-time Ballon d’Or winner’s, it was officially given to Pepe.
Real Madrid may claim this is goal No401, but, regardless, everyone can agree he has definitely completed his fourth century of goals for the 11-time European champions.
Here’s a look back at his other landmark strikes….
1
Real Madrid 3 Deportivo 2, La Liga — August 29, 2009
His debut — of course.
From day one, Ronaldo took over penalty responsibilities, and made no mistake.
10
Real Madrid 4 Almeria 2, La Liga — December 5, 2009
After nine goals in his first seven games, Ronaldo went on a bit of a barren spell.
Goal No.10 was the final one in the route of Almeria.
50
Real Madrid 5 Athletic Bilbao 1, La Liga — November 20, 2010
He hit ‘just’ 33 in his first campaign, and it took him until the 12th league game of season No.2 to reach his half a century.
Ronaldo his three against the Basque side and the second got him to the mark.
100
Lyon 0 Real Madrid 2, Champions League — November 2, 2011
Ronaldo broke the 50 mark in 2010-11 and would hit 60 in his third campaign.
A brace in a group stage match in Lyon brought him to 100.
150
Real Madrid 3 Granada 0, La Liga — September 2, 2012
Remarkably, in 2011-12, he won his first league title.
His goal ratio was getting better and took him just ten months exactly to get another 50 — again with a brace.
200
Real Madrid 4 Real Valladolid 3, La Liga — May 4, 2013
Now he’s really found his scoring boots as he reaches two landmarks in a season.
A another double made it 200, and he would finish the campaign on 201 — despite not scoring in final three matches of the season.
250
Bayern Munich 0 Real Madrid 4, Champions League — April 29, 2014
What a stage to make it 250.
Ronaldo scored twice — with the second bringing up the landmark — to take Los Blancos to a first Champions League final for 12 years.
300
Rayo Vallecano 0 Real Madrid 2, La Liga — April 9, 2015
Just the one goal, his side’s first in the match.
Remarkably, he reached 300 in just 288 appearances.
350
Real Madrid 7 Celta Vigo 1, La Liga — March 5, 2016
Just the four, and it came on his 250th La Liga appearance for Real Madrid.
The quartet all arrived in the second half and Ronaldo was presented with a special shirt.
